In April, I lived in Barcelona to manage some upcoming projects. I stayed in Barceloneta, and I have to say it was quite an experience.
I want to thank the city for its always open arms, although I must admit there’s a bit of stress due to the huge influx of tourists: Barceloneta is very crowded.
A very intense period is beginning. I’ll be on tour for a while, without a fixed residence, so I won’t be able to paint.
Given the circumstances, I decided this is the right moment to return to another project I love but had put on hold. During my time in Rome and Granada, I developed a series of sixty drawings titled Bawie (Black and White Is Enough). I spent quite some time observing it and, in a way, I wanted to know whether it was just something temporary, so I removed all the content from the internet and let it rest.
For two years, I kept analyzing it and fell more and more in love with it. I believe now is the best time to manage it and give it continuity.
Drawing is a great companion on the road: there are many idle hours, and you can draw anywhere; you only need paper and a marker. I usually draw in black and white, as it allows me to take a break from the intensity of color in my work.
I’m packing paper, markers, and a lot of curiosity in my suitcase. Let’s see what happens.
El mes de abril estuve viviendo en Barcelona para gestionar algunos proyectos futuros. Viví en la Barceloneta y tengo que decir que ha sido toda una experiencia.
Quiero agradecer a la Ciudad Condal sus brazos siempre abiertos, reconozco un poco de estrés por el gran aluvión de turistas: la Barceloneta es multitudinaria.
Empieza una temporada muy intensa. Estaré un tiempo de gira, sin residencia fija, así que no podré pintar cuadros.
Dada la circunstancia, decidí que es el momento adecuado para retomar otro proyecto que me encanta pero lo tengo parado. En mi estancia en Roma y Granada desarrollé una serie de sesenta dibujos titulada Bawie (Black and white is enough). Estuve bastante tiempo observándola y, de alguna manera, quería saber si no era apenas algo temporal, retiré todo el contenido de internet y lo dejé reposar.
Durante dos años estuve analizándola y me fui enamorando cada vez más. Creo que ahora es el mejor momento de gestionarla y darle continuidad.
El dibujo es un gran aliado en la carretera: hay muchas horas muertas y puedes dibujar en cualquier lugar; solo necesitas papel y rotulador. Suelo dibujar en blanco y negro, así descanso de la intensidad de los colores en mi obra.
