This year (2026), I began a new series of murals that takes me back to my childhood in Brazil. From my earliest days as a muralist, Brazilian influence has been deeply present: Neo-Concretism, Indigenous traditions, and African heritage shaped the way I understand art in public space.
For a long time, this influence was unconscious. I improvised without preliminary sketches. Over time, through commissions, I developed a very specific painting technique and, at the same time, gained a broader cultural understanding of my influences by studying Brazilian painting and, above all, by reconnecting with Candomblé, the religion I was born into.
Through this understanding, I became fully aware of the cultural baggage stored in my subconscious. It was a magical and crucial moment: realizing that the cultural universe I carried within me was the only place I could truly return to. And over time, I understood how important it is to have a place to return to: memory and roots.
Since then, my cultural memory has continued to grow, and I began drawing from that place. Every day, I return to Brazil and paint surrounded by the references that shaped me.
This process led me to create sixty sketches in which I reinterpret Neo-Concretism, blending it with Afro-Brazilian culture and, above all, with my understanding of the life of Tom Jobim. Without a father figure in my life, I looked to him as both a man and an artist; Tom taught me to move through life with greater delicacy.
I feel that everything I carry within me is a treasure I have found. I am very fortunate for that, and now I am going to share it through my murals.
Este año (2026), empecé una nueva serie de murales que me traslada a mi infancia en Brasil. Desde mis comienzos como muralista, la influencia brasileña estuvo muy presente: el neoconcretismo, lo indígena y lo africano formaron mi manera de entender el arte en el espacio público.
Durante mucho tiempo esta influencia fue inconsciente. Improvisaba sin esbozo previo. Con el tiempo y los encargos estructuré una técnica muy concreta de pintar y, a la vez, fui adquiriendo más cultura y entendiendo mis influencias al estudiar la pintura brasileña y, sobre todo, al volver a relacionarme con el Candomblé, mi religión de cuna.
A partir de esta comprensión, tuve total conciencia del bagaje cultural que almacenaba en mi subconsciente. Fue un momento mágico y crucial: saber que el universo cultural que guardaba en mi interior era el único lugar al que podía volver. Y, con el tiempo, entendí lo importante que es tener un lugar adonde regresar: memoria y raíz.
Desde entonces, mi memoria cultural fue creciendo y empecé a dibujar desde allí. Cada día vuelvo a Brasil y pinto envuelto por los referentes que me educaron.
Este proceso me llevó a dibujar sesenta esbozos en los que releo el neoconcretismo, mezclándolo con la cultura afrobrasileña y, sobre todo, con la comprensión de la vida de Tom Jobim. Al no tener referente paterno, me fijé en él como hombre y artista; Tom me enseñó a caminar la vida de manera más delicada.
Siento que todo esto que llevo dentro es un tesoro que encontré. Soy muy afortunado por ello y ahora voy a compartirlo a través de mis murales.
